A friend walked into my work shop last week and declared that "You have a glass problem!" She jokingly suggested I participate in a 10 step program - immediately!!  I then took her into my studio where I create birdbaths, bird feeders, totems and other glass yard art.  After opening a bottle of red wine, I then showed her how layering is done and how much fun it is to create sparkling art from vintage glass.  She was hooked!!

It was at that moment I realized how much I miss teaching, sharing knowledge and watching others experience the joy that comes from the creation process.

So here we are.  I am offering a craft class where you can treasure hunt through my glass, learn layering techniques to achieve the perfect sparkle and color to showcase your individual style.  Learn about adhesives and mounting.  While enjoying friends and wine.  Details are below.

Pink is the universal color of love

Pink is  a quiet color, lovers of beauty usually favor pink and it is romantic and charming.  Use soft shades of  pink to convey playfulness and tenderness. In the US, pink is the color of little girls. It represents sugar and spice and everything nice. Most people still think of pink as a feminine, delicate color.

All shades of pink are more sophisticated when combined with black, gray, or medium to darker shades of blue.  Medium to dark green and pink is also a sharp-looking combination.

Are You Attracted to Blue?

The color of the sky and the ocean

Blue is one of the most popular colors. Its peaceful, tranquil, and causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms. Fashion consultants recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty. People are more productive in blue rooms.

 More and more brides are known to select Celestial blue and its related shades for their upcoming spring or summer weddings.  Blue and its shades are all about fun. You could choose darker shades for adding masculinity to your wedding palette.  Lighter shades of blue on the other hand symbolize tranquility, peace and spirituality. Brides who choose Blue often tend to have a sensitive and emotional personality.

Indoor Herb Garden

Gardening Indoors Can Be Done Easily Gardening Indoors can be done easily if you have the proper conditions in your home. The key to success is having enough light for the plants to do well. West and South facing windows provide the most light. If the herbs are not getting enough light they will just stop growing and may eventually have insects or diseases attack them. Humidity Another problem with growing indoors is humidity or lack of it. Our heating systems are primarily dry heat and the plants can suffer from lack of moisture in their leaves even though they are watered. This can be corrected by misting or washing your plant's leaves every 2 weeks. Most Herbs Prefer Temperatures from 65-80 Degrees Most herbs prefer temperatures from 65-80 degrees and watering when the soil is dry to the touch. Never let your plants sit in a tray of water as their roots will drown. Also, make sure that the pots you use are large enough for the plant to grow for up to 6 months. Pots that are 8" in diameter are best. Moving Your Plants Outdoors It is generally best to move your plants outdoors as soon as it is warm and they will really appreciate an afternoon of sunshine on warm days, just remember to bring them back indoors during the cool nights. Preparing Perennial Herbs for Winter In very mild winter areas nothing needs to be done except a light pruning, cutting off about a third of the plant to trim up and encourage a nice form for spring. Cold Winter Areas In cold winter areas, the annual herbs will die as soon as the first frost hits them. The perennials can last if they are hardy to your zone. Rosemary, Sage, Lavender and others need to be pruned (about a third) and then mulched with anything that will protect them from the cold and wet. Cover their stems and root systems with hay or leaves or pine straw to keep the freezing wind from doing damage. Taking Cuttings of Your Plants You can also take cuttings of your plants and root them indoors keeping them moist and in a humid environment until they are rooted and then pot them. We listened.  Meet Sophie and Piper, our newest additions.  Made from 5 pieces of  beautiful ceramic plates, vintage glass ware, and both feature vintage jewelry for the centers!

Sophie - a wise and beautiful spring choice

Piper - has a soft musical whimsey

Sophia is made from a large blue and white striped dinner plate, a green leaf design ceramic and a vintage saucer with a delicate blue floral design, she has a green transparent flower shaped glass center accented by a vintage blue gem stone broach.  A beautiful addition to your garden, and pairs nicely with hydrangea, rhododendron or other bush style annuals.

Piper is made from a large vintage ceramic dinner plate accented with a gold scalloped design, a lavender leaf design ceramic followed by a vintage pressed glass iridescent bowl, a flower shaped center glass accented by a vintage purple gem stone.  This one can stand alone in your garden or will pair nicely with blue, purple, yellow, or white perennials.
